How was your weekend? As much as I usually love Mondays, I have to admit I wasn't thrilled to see this one come around. I'm a little low on sleep these days, but we just got a new mattress, so that should be remedied soon enough.
Saturday I was up bright and early for spin, which was followed by coffee at Whole Foods and breakfast at a diner. I worked all day and then relaxed a bit before we ventured out for dinner at a new-ish burger joint in our hood. I had a chicken apple sausage dog which reminded me I need to buy those to make at home more often. Yum! (How cure are these socks? They were in a "cheer up" care package from a sweet sorority sister a few months ago...)
Yesterday (Sunday) was kind of a repeat. I worked out, grabbed breakfast at Whole Foods, ran some errands, worked, and then we met my dad and my sister for dinner. I had an amazing spicy kale salad with apples and almonds that I'll have to try to recreate at home soon.
Sidenote: anyone else obsessed with the coffee bar & breakfast bar at Whole Foods? Or is it just me...
My big news is that I JOINED A NEW GYM!!! I'm so happy I could cry.
It's been probably a good five and a half years since I've belonged to a conventional gym. I went from joining one to quitting, to joining another to quitting, to not working out once for probably two years (a low point) to trying and loving yoga, to trying and loving SoulCycle, to running a half marathon, and here we are now.
In the past few years I've used residential gyms to get my elliptical fix while focusing most of my exercise energy (and dollars) on boutique fitness classes. In the past few months, it's become clear to me that my time, energy and money would be better spent at one place, rather than running all over town to different studios. So I joined a gym! It's 3 blocks from my apartment, has amazing group fitness programs, and is state of the art all the way around. Oh, and there's an amazing juice bar. Can you tell I'm excited!!!
I used to have to force myself to go to the gym, and more days than not, made excuses not to go. Now, I'm going to have to remind myself to take days off. My how the tables have turned...
Tentative workout schedule for the week:
Monday = Off
Tuesday = Spin
Wednesday = Yoga
Thursday = Pure Barre (I have a few classes left in my account... if only I could transfer them to one of the Florida studios and use them on my next trip down there!)
Friday = Spin
Saturday = Abs or off
Sunday = Cardio + Body Sculpt
