Happy Monday! I'm sure I've mentioned this somewhere before, but I used to loathe Mondays, and now I love them. They represent a new chance, a fresh start and a clean slate. I used to have really bad anxiety on Sunday evenings in anticipation of the dreaded Mondays, but now I use them to my advantage. I force myself to couch it and relax (I miss Mad Men) or I use them to prep for the upcoming week.
Last night I worked until about 8 and then we grabbed the car and drove to Trader Joe's. Grocery shopping in the city is the pits, I tell you. I miss the days of living in Florida, hopping in my Jeep and cruising over to Publix. (Publix! Tear!) I will say that having access to a car in Manhattan really is helpful, but it's still not quite the same. I wasn't made for this city life. I'm a suburban girl, through and through.
How was your weekend? I enjoyed a pretty relaxed few days. It's nice to know we're staying put for awhile. This weekend consisted of some work, some school, a yoga class, a spin class, and a couple of really delicious meals out. And several delightful protein pancakes as pictured above (with the most gorgeous, delicious organic blueberries).
Lately I feel like I need to shake things up in the fitness department, so I'm going to try a few new workouts this month. Actually, I'm going to try to make this a monthly thing. Here's what's on my list for August.
Peloton Cycle (I'm going this week!)
Barre3 (as soon as it opens!)
Exhale Core Fusion Power Sculpt DVD (got it in a gift bag & excited to try)
And a few fun finds from around the 'net...
How much fitness instructors make. (Super interesting read specific to NYC.)
Are you a Spiritual Gangster? (I collect their tees. SO. Good.)
Why yoga is a broke-a** business. (Sidenote: Most yoga instructors' pay is based on the number of students in any given class. PLEASE check in at the front desk at your studio. Even if you called ahead of time, always give your name at the front desk. It helps ensure your instructor is paid accurately and fairly for her talents and time. #YogiEnthusiastRant)
