My weekend is starting a day early, and thus, this blog post! I told you my escape from Manhattan was imminent and I'm off to - you guessed it - my home state of sunny Florida for the next few days.

I'm off to pack my lightest sweatshirts and new ballet flats... After these past few weeks in New York, anything 40 degrees and over sounds like heaven to me.

In the meantime, here are three things to do this weekend...

Do a little yoga. I took a yoga class this week for the first time in months. I have an interesting, finicky relationship with yoga; we might lose each other every so often but we always reunite... and I'm always glad we did. Try this blossoming series from MindBodyGreen.

Cut back on soda. I've always had a fairly strong anti-soda stance. I've never actually had a full serving of Coca-Cola; I've tasted it a few times and never liked the way it made my throat feel. Sprite, on the other hand, I have always loved and it's served as an occasional treat throughout my life. And when we moved to Texas, I discovered an appreciation for Dr. Pepper.

But nowadays, I've tried to cut it out of my life completely (RIP, DP). My fiance isn't super crazy about soda either - though he loves a Cherry Coke at the movies - and we've already discussed and decided that our future kids will not be anywhere allowed any type of soda. (Of course I know as kids grow up you can't control what they are around when they're out of your direct care, but I'm hoping to turn them off from it at an early age.) It's something I just feel really strongly about.

Even if you've alredy cut back on soda - or if you think I'm a lunatic for imploring you to do so - I still advise watching this video for several reasons: a) if you're a Jason Mraz fan; b) if you're a bear fan and c) if you appreciate graphic design.

Give back. Did you know that February is Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Month? If you are in the giving mood, I encourage you to check out The Yellow Brick Road Foundation, a non-profit focused on assisting children and families whose lives have been affected by Congenital Heart Defects. Dear friends of mine lost their son to CHD last year. They are on the board of this amazing organization and I am happy to support them in any way I can. I own the t-shirt above (in an adult size) and love wearing it. Whether you want to buy a super cool tee, donate money or just spread the word... every little bit helps.
