WHAT I ATE WEDNESDAY: PALEO-ISH

Happy Wednesday! How is everyone's week going?!

I am just chuggin' along over here with lots to do! I had a great client session this morning, got in my own quick workout and now I'm home catching up with you guys and catching up on The Bach. Anyone else been watching? Here's my one PSA for single girls (AHEM...LACE): When you find yourself repeatedly telling a guy, "I'm not crazy, I'm just..." Yes you are. Yes you are crazy. And if even if you aren't crazy you're ACTING like it. So STOP IT.

Yesterday, I let myself sleep in until just about 9. Monday was a long, late day (I ended up climbing into bed at 1:00am on the dot) so the late morning shuteye was much needed and deeply appreciated - especially since I knew I won't be able to sleep past 5:45am again until Sunday. Soon after waking I put together a bowl of plain Fage yogurt, grain-free banana bread and fresh blueberries. Definitely my favorite breakfast right now.

I decided to skip coffee since I had kind of a laid back morning (this came back to bite me later in the form of a killer afternoon headache). My mid-morning pick-me-up was a few handfuls of chocolate-covered raisins.

Lunch was a super-delish homemade chopped salad eaten in the break room at work. Yum. I may have to do that again for lunch today...

I worked all afternoon and sipped a Protein Knockout smoothie from Juice Generation in between sessions. 

I had grand plans of going to the grocery store to pick up a few things, but by the time I got home I was tired, cold and had a headache that wouldn't quit. Ben was at a volunteer event so I was on my own for dinner. I decided to keep it simple and made an egg white omelet with some chicken maple sausage before working for the next few hours and climbing into bed around 10.

I called the title of this post "Paleo-ish" because I'm clearly not on a strict Paleo diet - dairy is still very much a part of my life. I tolerate it just fine. I'm just mindful of the kinds and quantities I consume. (As a kid, eating a bowl of ice cream and drinking a glass of milk simultaneously was something I did on the reg. I know. Pretty cray-cray.) What I'm focused on in my everyday life for this new year is depending less and less on grains to fuel me. This helps my sleep quality and energy levels, so I'm currently trying to figure out what kind of grains I can keep in my life. Mentally, I've committed to no grains for two weeks, and the last day of this test run happens to be the day that I'm celebrating my birthday with my family at my favorite Italian restaurant in the city. I'm interested to see whether I dive head first into the bowl of pasta (probable) or if I opt for the fish dish instead. (One thing is for sure: there will be cake!) 

Alrighty folks, that's it for me today. I'm wiped and going to try to fit in a nap before an afternoon class and an evening session.
